Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain cemented over the front of your teeth to change their color and shape. Veneers have a longer life expectrancy and color stability than bonding, and highly resist permanent staining from coffee, tea, or even cigarette smoking.

Veneers are typically a three-appointment process. The first appointment consists of a consultation of expectations and the process, as well as taking pictures for dramatic before-and-afters, and impressions of the teeth. The second appointment is the "prepping" appointment. At the prepping appointment your teeth will be prepared to fit for new veneers, new impressions will be taken, and your temporary teeth will be put on. The temporary teeth look extremely natural and will give the patient a chance to see the color and shape and are able to make changes for the best fit. Two weeks later you will return to have your new veneers cemented and will be able to show off your new smile immediately!

Since veneers are individual units, they are very easy to take care of; you can eat, drink, brush, and floss just like normal. After veneers proper hygiene at home and regular cleanings with the Doctor are so important to maintain your investment. A night guard also helps protect the teeth from grinding in the night.

DISADVANTAGES

Removal of Enamel: Dr. Truong will maintain as much as original tooth structure as she can. However, some removal of enamal is requred in order to fabricate veneers that fit properly. It is very minimal, but is irreversible.
